Pentax K-m (or K2000) product brochure up

The Pentax K-m product brochure (in German) and an info leaflet have been made available at the Pentax Germany website. They also give out the official specifications of the camera. The dimensions of the camera are (as already stated) 122,5 x 91,5 x 67,5 mm, and the weight (without battery and lens) is 575g.

Compared to K10D at 790g (-215g) or K200D at 630g (-55g) it’s light, but both Olympus E-420 at 380g (+195g) and the upcoming G1 at 385g (+190g) are considerably more light weight, although both lack a built-in image stabilization (which is will weight down the lenses).

The sensor is the familiar 10,2Mp Sony CCD from K10D and K200D. The display is 2,7 inch with (a bit disappointing) 230,000 dots. Pentax continues to use AA-type batteries as the power source, a feature that is either disliked or prized, depending on who you ask.

Viewfinder is a pentamirror with 96% coverage with 0.85x magnification.

As it turns out, the Pentax K-m will be marketed as K-m only in Europe, in the rest of the world it will be known as Pentax K2000. The initial price for the K2000 body, the smc PENTAX DA L 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 AL kit lens and the PENTAX AF200FG flash, available in November 2008, will be $699.95.

  1. Actually I believe that it is called K-m in Canada as well. The only mention of K-2000 I have found were in the USA.
