My interest in photography was kindled when I briefly got hold of a Nikon D200 DSLR. I didn’t know such cameras even existed, and the robustness and tool-like demeanor of the camera made a lasting impression. A DSLR fever started gnawing inside the technogeek. It took a year and a half before I finally bought my own DSLR, a Pentax K10D. Luckily, because during that time I realized, that in the end, the camera is not what makes the picture. Despite this knowledge, photography with a pocket camera held no charm for me, after having held the D200 in my hand. I had to get a DSLR.
After endless comparisons I figured that the Pentax K10D was featurewise nearly equal to D200, but a lot cheaper. However, the prices in Finland seemed not to follow the drops in other european countries. In December 2007 I spotted a sale in the local camera store, where I finally purchased the K10D. Oh the happy day!
After that I’ve accumulated about 10,000 shutter actuations, of which I have around 5700 image files saved. It seems that K10D fits my hand perfectly (better than the D200 I’ve since had pleasure to use a few times).
